About Tash Rabat, Kyrgyzstan: how to get there and what to see
Tash Rabat is a medieval caravanserai in the At-Bashi range of the Naryn region, close to the border with China. Built of stone without cement, it sheltered merchants crossing the high passes of the Silk Road.
The building is surrounded by quiet mountain scenery, a good place for a short walk and a picnic.

How do I visit Tash Rabat?

Can I add it to a longer route?
Yes. Most travellers combine it with neighbouring places and we adjust days, hotels and stops to fit.
When is the best time to visit Tash Rabat?
June to September is generally the best time to visit Tash Rabat, when the mountain road is more accessible and seasonal yurt camps operate. Weather can change quickly early and late in the season; snow may block the approach between October and May. Before departure, we check road conditions and access to the caravanserai, as some areas may be temporarily restricted during restoration.
What should I bring to Tash Rabat?
Bring warm layers and a windproof or waterproof jacket: evenings can be cold even in summer at about 3,200 metres. Wear sturdy closed shoes for the valley, and carry water, sun protection and a camera. If staying in a yurt, confirm bedding and camp facilities with your tour organiser.
