Tekes waterfall is located not far from the village of Kegen, the distance from Almaty to the waterfall is about 300 km.
Most of the way is on a good road, but the last 20 km you need to go off-road, you can only get to the waterfall by SUV.
Tekes is a large mountain river that is one of the main tributaries of the Ili River and the name of the waterfall is taken from here, it is not large, but its beauty and wildlife around makes this place magical and you want to come back here again and again.

In the gorge where the waterfall is located, it does not get hot even in summer, if you are planning a trip to the waterfall, remember this, take warm clothes with you, especially if you want to stay overnight, temperatures can drop to 0 degrees on summer days.
The road to Tekes is very picturesque, reminiscent of Switzerland with Alpine meadows, after driving 10 km off-road, a plateau opens in front of you. There is an observation deck with a beautiful panorama. Closer to the waterfall there are guest Yurts that you can rent to spend the night.
The season for visiting the waterfall is very short June-September. In winter, it is practically impossible to get to the waterfall by car due to the large amount of precipitation.
A trip to the waterfall can be combined with the sights that are on the way - Charyn Canyon, Kolsai lakes, Lake Tuzkol.
