DETAILED ITINERARY
- 8:00 a.m.: An English-speaking guide will meet you either at your hotel or at a location convenient for you. After introductions and familiarization with the program, we embark on our journey. Our first stop is the village of Baiseit, where we explore the local market and purchase fresh fruit along the way.
- 11 a.m.: Our initial natural landmark visit takes us to the Valley of Castles within the Charyn Canyon. The road from Almaty will take approximately 3 hours, including stops.
- 11:30 a.m.: After enjoying panoramic views and learning about the Charyn Canyon’s history, we descend into the Valley of Castles. We’ll explore the 3-kilometer-long canyon and take a break near the Charyn River, sipping tea and capturing memorable photos.
- 1:30 p.m.: Returning to the parking area, we’ll head to Saty village, where a traditional Kazakh lunch awaits.
- 3 p.m.: Following a brief rest, we’ll embark on a 12-kilometer off-road drive to reach Lake Kaindy. A leisurely walk around the lake will take approximately 2 hours, allowing us to appreciate its beauty from three different vantage points.
- 5 p.m.: We’ll return to the SUV and proceed to the guest house in Saty.
- 6 p.m.: Dinner will feature a taste of the national dish, accompanied by Koumiss—a beverage made from mare’s milk.
- 8 p.m.: The day concludes with captivating legends shared around the fire. During this time, you’ll have the opportunity to further acquaint yourself with Saty. 🌄🔥
- 7 a.m.: Kickstart your day with a sumptuous breakfast at the guest house.
- 8 a.m.: After breakfast, we’ll gather our essentials for the hike and head towards the lower Kolsai Lake. The guest house is just a 30-minute drive away. Remember to bring your passports, as we’ll be in a border zone.
- 9 a.m.: At the lake, we’ll take in the breathtaking views, learn insect protection techniques, and set up camp. Our journey to the middle Kolsai Lake will lead us through a scenic coniferous forest and mountainous terrain, taking approximately 3 hours each way.
- 12 p.m.: By the lakeside, you’ll have a leisurely 2-hour break to relax, soak in the natural beauty, and savor lunch. We’ll provide lunch boxes from the guest house.
- 2 p.m.: After our lakeside retreat, we’ll descend to the parking area and make our way back to Almaty.
- 9 p.m.: Our driver/guide will drop you off at your hotel or any other convenient location within the city.
